Fourth Annual Indian Festival in Buenos Aires

On December 3rd the 4th Annual Festival de la India kicked off here in Buenos Aires. It’s basically ten days of crazy, colorful, and curry-ful celebration of (to me) the most fascinating country on the planet. The majority of the action takes place at the Borges Cultural Center in the Galerías Pacífico mall down on Florida & Av. Córdoba, with a huge fair of clothing, artesanías and dance & music shows. A photography exhibit at the Centro Cultural Recoleta is also taking place, and there was a massive meditation event at the Planetarium on Sunday.

The best part of the whole damn festival, however, is the all-you-can-eat Indian feast at the Sheraton hotel facing Plaza San Martín. Without a doubt, it’s the most deliciously painful experience you’ll go through (That is, if you have no self control and enjoy eating until you can’t walk or move).

If you love Indian food, you’d be a dope not to go. The whole dining room is decked out quasi-Bollywood trashy and there are so many dishes it’s hard to know where to start. It’s all the work of two Indian chefs whose sole purpose is to get you to stuff as much curry into your stomach as you can. Hands down it’s the best variety of Indian food in the city – no restaurant’s menu is as extensive or as authentic – so stop reading and go make a reservation now.

These dudes mean business

The Food Festival starts every night at 8:30 PM through December 10th, and reservations can be made by calling the Sheraton at 4318 9000. The cost is AR$210.
