About

Hi there. I’m Paige, but feel free to call me Página. Or Pilar. I respond to all three. Since 2008 I’ve been living in Buenos Aires and pretending that I am a real person.

At the risk of sounding cliché and annoying,  I’ll tell you anyway: I love to eat. My panza is never full enough. I daydream of everything from curry to quinoa, foie gras to french fries. While cosmopolitan and chic in so many ways (except for the whole mullet thing), Buenos Aires often presents challenges to serious eaters looking for variety and quality. Regardless, I’ve discovered plenty of gems throughout my years here and decided it was time l put them all in one place. I figured I might as well put my knowledge to good use, so voila! La Panza Porteña has come to be.

Here you will be able to enjoy the rants and raves of my unhealthy relationship with the Buenos Aires food scene. Expect random tidbits of other ridiculous happenings from time to time as well. If you’re interested in knowing just how inane my life is, check out my other blog, La Página Porteña or follow me on Twitter. Or Tumblr. I’m all over this social media hoopla, don’t you see? If anything, it will be a good time waster at work.

  1. Paige, what a beautiful and helpful blog. I wish I’d found this before spending a few weeks in Buenos Aires last month! I felt like I was fumbling around blind when it came to finding good food (mostly because I didn’t have an iPhone to resort to).

  2. Hi Paige.
Love your blog!! I love good food and just reading about it gives me a great sense of wellbeing too.
We will be in BA next week for a few days and was hoping you could advise on a good restaurant, with good food, which also offers a tango show. We would love to see a tango show combined with a good dinner and I have seen some events in BA on offer which seems to be in big theatre like setups, with a meal included. But we would prefer a tango show in a smaller more intimate place and what better place than a good restaurant. I am sure there must be restaurants like that in BA and I thought to ask you. Perhaps you can make a suggestion.
We will also attend the Underground Market on the 9th. Looking forward to that!!
Hope to hear from you soon. Regards.

    Saludos!

  4. Hi Paige,

I’m writing from all the way around the world in Singapore. I have an odd favor to ask you – I am trying to convince a friend to backpack with me in Argentina at the end of this year. She is still on the cusp and I’m trying hard to convince her. So I was wondering if you could help me and send a postcard from Argentina to Singapore. Just a simple postcard that says –

    “Dear XX,

    Argentina? Why not?

    – T ”

You don’t know me. I don’t know you. So I’m sure this is a strange e-mail and an odd request. But the world is a small place and I promise to return the favor if there’s something you ever need from Singapore. Let me know if you can help out. Will really appreciate it.

    Thanks!

  6. My name is Joe Pinzone and I’m casting an international travel show about expats moving abroad. We’d love to film in Argentina and wanted to know if you could help us find expats who have moved there within the last 2 years. The show documents their move to a new country and will place the country in fabulous light. If you’d like more information, please give me a call at 212-231-7716 or skype me at joefromnyc. You can also email me at joepinzone@leopardusa.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

  7. Good afternoon Paige,
Pleasure to meet you! My name is Pierre and I work for Steaks by Luis, a puerta cerrada rated in the top 10 restaurants on trip advisor. We provide people with the opportunity to experience what an authentic Argentine asado is all about.
There are many things that set us apart from the typical meal at a parrilla such as the opportunity to participate in each part of the asado, from meat preparation to the actual cooking at our theater style parrilla. We want our guests to learn about the tradition that is asado and to live a night of good food and good wine in good company.
We’d love to have you in for an event so you can see what our authentic Argentine asado is all about. If this is something that interests you please let me know.
I look forward to hearing from you.
    Best regards,
    Pierre

  8. Hola, Paige!
